About Big Country Tree Pros
How we quote tree work, how we do it, and what we will not do. Just the standard we hold ourselves to.
A Local Tree Service Request Site, Built Around Doing the Job Properly
Big Country Tree Pros is a new tree service request site for Abilene and the towns around it. We do not run our own crews: you tell us about the job, and we pass it to an independent local tree service that quotes it and does the work. We are not going to claim decades of history, because we do not have any, and that claim sits on half the tree service sites in Texas anyway. What we can give you is how we approach the work.
Tree work is one of the few home services where a bad job does not look bad right away. A topped tree looks tidy for a season before it throws out weak regrowth. A cut in the wrong spot looks fine until decay reaches the trunk years later. Most of what separates one crew from another is decisions nobody watches being made.
How we work
Every job starts with an honest read of the tree. Before anything is quoted we want to know what is wrong, whether it can be corrected, and what happens if you leave it a year. Sometimes the answer is that the tree is fine and needs deep watering, not a saw.
When work is warranted, the plan comes before the saw. That means knowing what sits under the tree, where the weight is, and where every piece is meant to land. In open ground the plan is short. Over a roof or a pool, the sequence is worked out on the ground and followed in order.
What we will tell you, and what we will not do
- We will tell you when a trim beats a removal. Correcting a fifteen year old tree costs far less than removing a thirty year old one.
- We will tell you when a tree is past saving, plainly.
- We will not top a tree. Cutting a canopy back to stubs starves it, opens every cut to decay and grows weak limbs that fail in the next storm.
- We will not climb a tree on spikes if that tree is staying. Gaffs wound living bark.
- We will not give a firm price on a tree nobody has seen.
- We will not add charges after the fact. If something changes the scope, work stops and we talk to you first.
Safety and rigging
Safe tree work takes longer than fast tree work, and that is most of what you pay for. Near a structure, limbs are roped and lowered instead of dropped, and the trunk comes down in blocks sized to land where they should. Ropes, slings and hardware get checked before they go up, and anything tired is retired.
Dead trees get more caution, not less. Dead wood is brittle, limbs snap instead of flexing, and a climber cannot trust the structure. Power lines are their own conversation. The service drop to a house we work around carefully, and primary lines are not ours to touch.

Cleanup, Quoting and Scheduling
A job is finished when the property looks like a crew took care of it. Brush is chipped and hauled, trunk wood is removed or stacked if you want the firewood, and the drive and street get blown clean. That is in the price on every job.
Quoting works best from a photo taken far enough back to show the whole canopy and what sits under it. When a job needs walking we come look, and there is no charge for that or for telling you the tree is healthy. Removal, trimming and storm work include the cleanup above. Stump grinding is priced separately.
The same factors move a price every time: size, what sits underneath, how close a truck and chipper can get, and what you want done with the wood. Scheduling moves around wind, since nobody should be rigging over a roof in a hard gust.
Where We Work
Abilene is home base, and the towns around it are inside the normal service area. No travel premium, no minimum job size.
What to Expect, Start to Finish
- You send the request. Photos, your side of town, what the tree is doing.
- A price comes back, with what the tree service thinks the tree needs.
- You decide. No follow up pressure. Not now is a fine answer.
- We schedule around weather and call if wind moves the date.
- The work runs in order. Drop zone set, canopy off, trunk down, stump if in scope.
- Cleanup and a walk through before we leave.
Detail on each service is on the tree removal, tree trimming, stump grinding and storm cleanup pages. More answers are on the FAQ page, and the contact page covers what to send.
