Acreage Trees Are a Different Job

Tree service in Buffalo Gap, TX rarely means one tree in a small yard. It usually means a place with some land on it, a stand of native live oaks that somebody has been quietly protecting for decades, and a slow creeping problem with cedar and mesquite around the edges of everything. Clearing without wrecking the place

Cedar and mesquite management is real work with a real payoff. Ashe juniper, which everyone here calls cedar, drinks heavily and shades out grass. Mesquite spreads from the fence line inward and thickens every year it is left alone. Clearing both puts water and grazing back on the ground and makes the property usable again.

The mistake to avoid is clearing with a wide brush. There is almost always a big mesquite worth keeping for shade over a pen, a motte of oaks that gives the place its character, and a line of brush along a draw that is holding soil in place. Removal

Open ground is the one place a tree can honestly be felled whole, and where we have the room we do exactly that. It is faster and cheaper than a sectional takedown. Trimming

Live oak and pecan pruning is the bulk of the ongoing tree work on these properties. Deadwood out, clearance over roofs and drives, weight reduced on long low limbs that are heading toward the ground. Stump grinding

Driveways, Access and Why It Affects the Price

Long driveways cut both ways on a quote. On one hand there is usually room to get a truck and chipper right up next to the work, which is the single biggest labor saver in this business. On the other, distance costs time, and a quarter mile of dragging brush back to the chipper adds up over a day.

Driveway clearance is worth doing on its own. Low limbs that a pickup slides under will strip the top of a stock trailer, an RV or an ambulance. The usual target is enough height for anything that might need to come down that drive in a hurry, cut cleanly at the collar rather than hacked back.

Ground conditions matter too. After a wet stretch, driving equipment across a pasture leaves ruts that stay for years. We would rather push a job a couple of days than tear up a place to make a schedule.

Village Trees and Old Plantings

In the older part of Buffalo Gap the situation flips. Lots are smaller, the trees are old and close to structures worth protecting, and the work becomes careful climbing and rigging rather than open ground felling.
